Job Description RESPONSIBILITIES AND PURPOSE:
Responsible for the leadership and operations of the warehouse and tool rooms.
- Overall shipyard operations.
- Ship repair methods and procedures.
- OSHA regulations regarding industrial lift equipment safety and training.
- Vehicle codes, particularly for passengers, buses and semi-tractor/trailer operations.
- Department of Motor Vehicles rules and regulations.
- Industrial lift equipment and their capabilities, capacities and safe operation.
- Hazardous material handling requirements inside and outside of BAE.
- Inventory cycle counting, root cause analysis, and reconciliation.
- Navy Material Scraping Procedures and disposal of recyclable material.
- Experience with the oversight of Government Furnished Material (GFM) receiving, issuing, storing, maintenance
- Familiarity with government property oversight and accountability standards and requirements
- Responsible for the oversight and training of warehouse personnel
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to tour all vessels, piers, docks, and work sites.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required recognize certain risks and enforce company safety standards while overseeing large groups of junior personnel. The employee is routinely required to sit, reach with the hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must also be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee may routinely be required to operate and endure the physical vigor of working in and operating equipment throughout the warehouse and shipyard. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The regiments listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintaining the daily product flow and all related material documentation requirements
- Maintaining a clean, safe, secure, and organized warehousing environment
- Maintain accurate, complete and auditable records and transactions
- Ensuring that products are made available to the crafts in a timely manner
- Properly store, stack and mark materials
- Load and unload trucks
- Must be computer literate
- Must be detailed oriented
- Advocates Continuous Process Improvement (CPI)
- Interfacing with both yard peroneal and vendors to identify material requirements
Must be physically able to access and tour all spaces onboard vessels and within the facilityRequired Education, Experience, & Skills Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Applicant must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and must be able to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and other co-workers in both one-on-one and small-group situations is necessary.
