In this position, you will participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program, where you will Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and the other students in the program.
BAE Systems is one of the world's largest defense contractors and Fortune 500 Company, this intern will be working full time onsite at our Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Radford, VA. Relocation will be not offered, and housing is not provided.
As a Training and Communications Intern, you will:
Coordination of New Hire Orientation including scheduling pre-badging appointments, preparing onboarding materials, staging for classes, assisting with instruction as needed. Provide transportation and support as needed for classes.
Production and development of training Communications including training newsletter, digital and printed training media, and training campaign awareness.
Update and maintenance of training web portal and related information, links and content as needed.
Coordination and support during large training events (lunch, breaks, materials) and tours of the site.
Maintain tracking records for compliance, such as tracking spread sheets, monitor iLearn and DCS reporting and communicate progress on training campaigns.
Handle intake for walk-in and other requests and be a point of contact for GSA (General Service Administration) license issuance as needed.
Assist in the re-work of the OJT (On-the-Job) program and review of training materials.
Coordination of Job Instruction Training and coaching on JIB (Job Instruction Breakdown) forms for all production and safety personnel.
Assist with and/or open capacity for the project to organize the “training drive” and other digital and paper records storage and retention
Coordinate with BAE communications team when broader scope of communication as needed.
Assist in instructional design and training documentation standardization efforts.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Must be currently enrolled in a bachelors degree program seeking a business, training, OD, HR or communications degree.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail and comfortable presenting to both groups and individuals. Ability to communicate with all levels in an organization both written and orally
- Approaches challenges with a positive mindset allowing for a “what’s working” and “how can we learn from this” attitude.
- Ability to work with Subject Matter Experts to develop training content.
- Ability to expresses technical information in written and verbal formats that are comprehensible to a wide audience.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Demonstrated understanding of basic learning methodologies such as the Adult Learning Theory, ADDIE, and others.
- Familiar or willingness to learn Learning Management Systems
- Familiar with or willing to learn eLearning development software such as Articulate 360, Captivate, etc.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $38700 - $52200
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
