Job Description The Systems Engineering Manager II at Los Angeles AFB, CA supporting the US Space Force (USSF) Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Launch Enterprise Directorate (SMC/ECL) Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) Contract performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost, risk, supportability and analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions. Translates customer requirements into hardware/software specifications.
Proven experience in conceptual thinking, designing and developing plans, processes, procedures, functional and data requirements analysis, complex system analysis, and documentation preparation for complex systems. Managerial experience should include formulating and enforcing work standards, reviewing work discrepancies, supervising contractor schedules, supervising contractor personnel and communicating policies, purposes and goals of the organization to subordinates. Experience in leading medium to large entities composed of administrative and technical professionals who have been involved in analyzing, designing, developing, integrating, training, testing, documenting, implementing and maintaining complex systems and/or processes.
Knowledge - Develops advanced concepts, techniques and standards. Develops new applications based on professional principles and theories. Viewed as expert in the field within the corporation.
Contacts - Contacts are frequent with individuals representing other departments, and/or representing outside organizations. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data on matters of moderate importance to the function of the department or which may be of sensitive nature.
Problem Solving - Develops solutions to problems of unusual complexity which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and innovativeness. Challenges are frequently unique and solutions may serve as precedent for future decisions.
Discretion and Latitude - Works under consultative direction toward long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated. Virtually self-supervisory.
Impact - Decisions affect the financial, technical, employee or public relations posture of the organization. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in failure to achieve goals critical to the major objectives of the organization.
Liaison - Serves as consultant and external spokesperson for the organization on significant matters relating to policies, programs, capabilities and long-range goals and objectives. Or serves as an advisor to senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
