Job Description The Systems Engineer (Developmental Position) at Los Angeles AFB, CA supporting the US Space Force (USSF) Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Launch Enterprise Directorate (SMC/ECL) Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) Contract performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost, risk, supportability and analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions. Translates customer requirements into hardware/software specifications.
This is considered an entry-level engineering position. Responsibilities may include analyze and review designs and test plans, processes, procedures, functional and data requirements analysis, system analysis and verification, and documentation preparation for complex systems.
Knowledge - Substantial understanding of the job and applies knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of tasks. Frequent use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques and standards. General application of concepts and principles.
Supervision and Management Received - Works with little instruction on daily work, general instruction on newly introduced assignments
Accountability - Errors may be detected and corrected but may result in loss of customer business, material or equipment to resolve.
Contacts - Contacts are typically with individuals within own department. Contacts involve obtaining or providing information or data requiring some explanation or interpretation.
Problem Solving - Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to policies and practices for guidance.
Discretion and Latitude - Works under general supervision. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy.
Impact - Contributes to the completion of organizational projects and goals. Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results would normally require moderate expenditure of resources to rectify or may cause delays in program schedules and may result in the allocation of additional resources.
Liaison - Works primarily internal to company and some customer work site. Limited inter-organizational and outside customer contacts.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills Education Level: Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or STEM-related field
Experience: Minimum: 0 years experience, college graduate
