Job Description This is an exciting and challenging position for a motivated individual to join the Intelligence & Security (I&S) Sector as a Senior Safety, Health, & Environment(SHE) Specialist. This will be a multi-faceted role providing SHE and Business Continuity Management (BCM) support (in terms of Emergency Planning / Management), for multiple Business Units / locations across various states that are primarily office. The Senior SHE Specialist will assist in leading the efforts of implementing BAE's Safety Management System's Framework for low risk / office locations. The incumbent will collaborate with the I&S SHE Team and site leadership / points-of-contact to provide technical and professional SHE / BCM support to BAE Systems managers and employees to improve the safety and health of our employees, ensure environmental risks are mitigated, and compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations. This position will be located at Hill AFB, UT (with remote opportunities for qualified candidates).
Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with management, staff, and hourly employees to promote the development of a safety, health, and environmental culture that exhibits the behaviors and processes outlined in the BAE Systems SHE management systems
  • Lead and execute incident investigations with line management and various levels of professionals and skilled workers within the organization.
  • Perform a team approach to Root Cause Analysis, utilizing defined methodologies to identify causes and preventive measures
  • Inspect facilities in order to identify and correct potential hazards
  • Assist with the on-going development and management of the SHE Management System. Prepare and update procedures and work instructions
  • Conduct or direct testing of air quality, noise, and temperature levels to verify compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Confer with health professionals to assess health risks and develop ways to manage health issues related to occupational exposures.
  • Ability to execute required company and regulatory training to management staff and employees
  • Assist with interaction with Federal, State, and Local regulators during inspections
  • Collaborate with Workers' Compensation Third Party Administrators (TPA's) to ensure proper case management
  • Other duties required to fulfill Company and regulatory SHE requirements
  • Exact duties will be determined based on the experience of the candidate selected

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Mgmt, Safety, Business or equivalent field.
  • Thorough knowledge of EHS regulations and modern EHS management principles
  • Communicate complex information effectively with employees and all levels of site management (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work in a team environment and take initiative individually
  • Manage time efficiently with little supervision
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prepare and present survey analyses to all employee groups.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and working groups
  • Ability to coach/consult with line management at all levels relative to building a culture and processes that lead to excellent SHE performance
  • Possess basic knowledge of Management Systems / ISO requirements
  • Experienced / well versed with Microsoft suite of programs (specifically Excel)

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • 4 or more years of Safety Health and Environmental experience
  • OHST / GSP / ASP / CSP / ABCP / CBCP certification preferred
