Job Description We are seeking an advanced level SMT Process Engineer to join our team onsite at our facility in Guaymas, Mexico. You will be a subject matter expert and help train our local team to ensure we are following all industry standard practices for maximum quality and productivity and the longevity of the equipment.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and Mentor a team of engineers to Develop and Validate various PCB (Printed Circuit Board) assembly processes (SMT and Through-hole). Includes Component Prep, Taping, Soldering Process Development (hand, wave, and selective soldering), Supporting Documentation, Box Build Instructions and Packaging for all assemblies.
- Ensure the proper development of SMT (Surface Mount Technology) re-flow and wave solder temperature profiles and make the necessary adjustments to obtain acceptable solder connections per IPC-A-610 with excellent repeatability and reproducibility of manufacturing processes.
- Develop and maintain technical roadmap for PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) product lines.
- Encourage and coach continuous improvement/ green belt projects that improve tooling, jigs and fixtures, that improve product manufacturability for manufacturing processes.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities in a teamwork environment while performing job functions in a timely manner.
- Interfaces with Design Engineering to improve product designs and manufacturability
- Program, interpret, analyze and provide corrective action for SPI/AOI/ICT and related inspection/ test data.
- Provides documentation and technical presentations as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Must be an American citizen or green card holder and have a general ability to speak and read Spanish.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical related Engineering or 8+ years related experience.
- Familiarity with electronic manufacturing processes (SMT, PTH, Potting, Coating, X-Ray, AOI, etc.)
- Understanding of Industry Standards for CCA, Module and box assembly requirements including IPC, J-STD
- 7+ years of experience in the deployment and troubleshooting of PCB / CCA manufacturing processes.
- Must be able to read and Interpret Circuit Board Schematics, Module Box Assembly Drawings and Define Manufacturing steps to meet all requirements
- Experience Generating Manufacturing Work Instructions
- Must have time study, labor standard, routing and lean manufacturing experience
- Non-conformance processing (i.e., defect disposition, cause and corrective action, etc.)
- Experience Programming and operating manufacturing equipment
- Defect Trend Analysis and Root Cause Assignable Cause and Corrective Action
- Hands on experience with automated soldering, wiring concepts, torque, epoxy bonding, and other electronics assembly processes
- New Process Introduction development and experience validating processes for advanced manufacturing applications
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience with Six Sigma, and LEAN practices, Six Sigma Black Belt experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Europlacer pick and place platforms preferred.
- Prior experience leading formal or informal teams to reach key business metrics or objectives is preferred.
- Experience in managing projects and capital.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $99200 - $168600
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
