Job Description BAE Systems, Inc. is seeking an exceptional individual with strong program management expertise to support the United States Air Force’s (USAF's) next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system as a Training Systems Branch Program Manager. Our customer is the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) USAF Program Office located at Hill AFB, Utah.

The 600+ BAE Systems employees located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah are aligned to the support the USAF Nuclear Weapons Center’s current Minuteman III ICBM and the acquisition of its replacement, called GBSD. This will be a long-term project with the weapon system anticipated to remain operational until 2075.

Why GBSD? The GBSD Program is an enormous and complex “Mega-Project” modernizing the entire ICBM weapon system deployed across tens of thousands of square miles in five states. Without any doubt, GBSD is one of the Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) most important acquisition efforts for the next several decades. It includes a complete refurbishment of hundreds of aging Minuteman III ICBM facilities to secure and support a newly designed, technologically advanced ballistic missile. It will also provide an entirely new command and control system as well as a vast array of required support equipment specifically engineered to operate and sustain the new weapon system over the decades ahead. GBSD is the DoD’s newest official “program of record” and enjoys broad, strong support at the national level. It is a long-term project -- the weapon system will deploy over a nine-year period beginning in approximately 2026, and remain operational until at least 2075. GBSD is a career-defining program that will present unique and challenging opportunities that simply are not available with smaller projects.
Tell me about this job. The BAE Program Manager is a leader and trusted advisor in assisting the USAF government customer as a part of the Integration Support Contract (ISC). Within the ISC, BAE augments organic government resources by providing breadth and depth of capabilities for weapon system development, system engineering and integration, risk management, technical assessment, acquisition program management, strategy development, organization and change management, interface with operations and logistics, business analysis, and mission effectiveness/performance. The candidate should be comfortable leading briefings, leading an interdisciplinary team, and presenting in high-level meetings.
The Training Systems Branch includes all newly developed training devices/simulators for the new GBSD ICBM, the training process and curricula, and the coordination of facilities that will house the new devices.
In this role, you will:
- Lead, mentor, and develop junior personnel within your team
- Be an enthusiastic and positive team member to the U.S. Government customer
- Provide expert advice and support to leaders on all aspects of the Training Systems Branch throughout the acquisition cycle with the help of a highly cohesive team of engineers, project analysts, and logisticians.
- Review project and budget status, manage schedules, prepare status reports, and ensure alignment between task and strategic objectives.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Science, Business, Management, or Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 10+ years’ experience (8+ years with Master's degree)
- Experience working in a collaborative, multi-discipline engineering team environment
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Technical leadership in the context of nuclear weapon systems operations, maintenance or support
- Experience working with nuclear missile training systems, equipment and infrastructure
- Experience with requirements analysis and traceability
- Experience with Risk identification and management
- Experience in DOD and / or AF acquisition and processes / documentation
- Experience working in a classified environment
- Active Secret security clearance adjudicated within the last 6 years
