We are in a sustained growth mode due to long-term fleet modernization and are searching for a Senior Industrial Engineer / Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our Louisville team.
The Senior Industrial Engineer / Continuous Improvement Engineer is a challenging role that offers variety and numerous professional growth opportunities. You will work directly with Value Stream Groups and other Operations Excellence team members to improve safety, identify defects and waste in the production process through Performance Metrics, Pareto Charting, Flow Analysis, Simulation, Value Stream Maps, and other tools and then sustainably improve process capabilities. You will create project plans, budgets and directly manage projects while being exposed to all levels of the organization.
This position allows you to make a meaningful contribution, offers significant professional variety and advancement opportunities. It will require limited travel and has work-life balance including a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off. Learn more about the work we do in this video.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. May consider closely related field
- Typically 4+ years experience in a manufacturing environment performing industrial engineering work
- Working knowledge of engineering fundamentals, lean concepts, practices, and tools
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills with a demonstrated ability to collect meaningful data and make data driven decisions
- Understand facility constraints such as space, machine capacity, materials movement, and utilities
- Solid working knowledge of MS Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proficiency in English
- The willingness and ability to work with others
- Must be a US citizen and be capable of obtaining a security clearance
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience in a company that has a lean mindset and practices continuous improvement such as automotive industry
- Shop layout experience with a demonstrated understanding of material presentation and flow
- Experience using simulation software to model a process; Simio is preferred
- Formal Six Sigma training, with a green belt minimally preferred; black belt desired
- Experience writing specifications and statements of work
- Capital project experience
- Working knowledge of CAD; AutoCAD preferred
