Job Description BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors, is hiring a Senior Electrical Technician to build and test new technology in combat vehicles for the Army and Marine Corps. In this role, you will help create the future of military vehicles and update existing models to the latest configurations.
Fabricate and install electrical harnesses and simple junction boxes from blueprints and engineering sketches using standard electrical shop equipment and materials and mil-spec soldering techniques. Troubleshoot simple electrical systems and components and make necessary repairs. Maintain and handle vehicle batteries and use proper handling and safety methods.
This is a union position and works a 9/80 schedule 5:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Thursday with every other Friday off.
- Read and follow Job Safe Practices.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and engineering specifications.
- Read and follow Factory Orders and Rework Orders.
- Perform general housekeeping.
- Fabricate harnesses from blueprints and sketches using standard
- Reconstruct drawings in the form of wire lists or schematics for harness
- Operate wire cutting and marking equipment.
- Perform Mil-Spec soldering.
- Utilize equipment stored in electrical shop.
- Repair electrical systems and components
- Handle vehicle batteries.
- Install government furnished equipment (GFE) and communications equipment.
- Troubleshoot simple vehicle electrical systems.
- Install vehicle and turret electrical systems per blueprints.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- High school diploma / GED and 4+ years relevant experience.
- Experience building and troubleshooting electrical harnesses and building distribution boxes.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and diagrams.
- Experience using a multimeter.
- Basic computer skills to read and write emails, etc.
- Experience with designing and testing circuits.
- We may consider candidates who do not meet all of the above qualifications for a less senior role.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Soldering certification a plus.
- Experience reading job work orders preferred.
- Ability to get a Secret Clearance preferred.
