We are seeking an Engineering Technologist who will be responsible for providing engineering services for a broad spectrum of Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Combat Systems, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) capabilities for Naval Special Warfare Command (NSWC) and interoperability of Fleet (USS/USNS) systems. The candidate should have an understanding or possess knowledge in current and emerging Fleet (USS/USNS) systems. The selected candidate will support new project start-ups related to Rapid Response oriented engineering and in-service engineering. The typical programs provide system engineering services to our dynamic customers in support of assigned Special Operating Forces (SOF) and federal agency C5ISR related projects including: requirements definition, solution definition, integration, installation verification and validation, operation and sustainment.
The selected candidate will act as a lead for Naval Special Warfare Afloat and SOF interoperability related projects and serve as the primary interface and point of contact with Government program authorities on technical and program/project issues. Projects may include the integration and installation of new C5ISR systems or equipment, the upgrade or modernization of existing systems or equipment and the use of legacy, current, and emerging C5ISR technologies to meet unique end-user requirements. Tasking will span the entire systems engineering life-cycle or some portion thereof. Due to the rapid nature of our customer, tailoring of the systems engineering process will typically be required.
The following duties are typical of the position:
- Independently or be part of an engineering team to support a project, or portions of multiple projects, within established program guidelines.
- Assist with the design and integration efforts of C5I technologies (e.g. radio, telecommunication, IT, and computer networks) across Navy ships, other maritime platforms and transit case based systems.
- Researching and evaluating alternative solutions, working with design teams to develop integration concepts and communications architectures, preparing detailed system designs, coordinating the production of prototype components and systems, and testing of the systems equipment for deployment.
- Maintain strong relationships with key customers, teammates and vendors.
- Interface professionally and communicate effectively with project staff and other organizational resources.
- Create design presentations and brief customers as needed on behalf of government sponsors.
- Write technical reports such as site surveys, test procedures, test reports, trade studies, and white papers.
- Write and support executive level papers/briefs for submission.
This position is located in San Diego. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to San Diego or surrounding areas.Required Skills and Education High school diploma and at least 11 years of experience with military and/or DoD communication systems integration
Knowledge of the Navy Afloat C5I modernizations process
Ability to capture requirements and scope of customer’s desired systems and develop compliant system solutions
Prior military C5I design and support experience on Afloat Platforms
Prior USN shipboard and/or Maritime Platforms C5I design and support experience
Ability to demonstrate professionalism, effective communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written at all levels within the company and within the customer community
Ability to initiate, prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability and willingness to travel as required
Current and active security clearance (eligible for TS)
Preferred Skills and Education Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of work experience
Experience in IT communications, networks, and cyber security on Afloat platforms.
Familiarity or experience with USSOCOM and its component combatant commands
Versatility in electrical, electronics, network, and computer systems design/integration
One or more IAT Level II Certifications (Security+, Network+, A+, GSEC, SSCP)
Afloat communication infrastructure experience
Strong skills in technical writing
