Job Description BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional individual with project management experience to support the Air Force's next generation ICBM weapon system acquisition. Our customer is the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Program Office located at Hill Air Force Base, north of Salt Lake City, Utah. This is a long-term project with the weapon system anticipated to remain operational until 2075. Within the GBSD Program, the Secondary Launch Platform-Airborne (SLP-A) provides an alternate launch capability for the ICBM force from the airborne platform.

To successfully field the new weapon system, the GBSD program requires an SLP-A Project Technical Manager with a willingness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment. The applicant must possess high energy and a strong motivation to make a difference. They must be comfortable working with changing priorities. The ability to switch tasks and multi-task with minimal disruption is a must.

This position will directly support the GBSD Command and Launch (C&L) Division and the government’s SLP-A Branch Chief as they acquire the airborne capability for the next generation ICBM. Duties will include providing expert advice and support to GBSD Division leaders on all SLP-A aspects throughout the acquisition cycle.

Specifically, this BAE Systems team member will be responsible for supporting our government customer in the review, analysis, and assessment of contractor design, documentation, and architecture products in order to meet GBSD acquisition requirements and timelines. The successful candidate will be highly motivated to develop skills in new technical areas, solve challenging and unique problems, and enjoy working on a diverse and dynamic range of technical challenges.

Our team provides future weapon system and lab architectures, concepts of operation, modeling, simulation, and plans for addressing SLP-A integration options. Our team includes existing staff with extensive expertise in the current Minuteman III weapon system’s Airborne Launch Control System and actively participates in ongoing studies and assessments for this next generation system.

This position is being filled as a part of the Integration Support Contract (ISC) under which BAE Systems augments organic government resources by providing breadth and depth of capabilities for system engineering and integration, risk management, technical assessment, acquisition program management, strategy development, organization and change management, interface with operations and logistics, business analysis, and mission effectiveness.

Pursuant to government contract, this position requires US Citizenship status.

This position is only located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, due to special-access, classified working environment.

Required Skills and Education 7 years of progressive technical experience:

  • High School/GED with 10+ years of experience
  • Associates Degree with 8+ years of experience
  • Bachelor of Science Degree with 6+ years of experience
  • Master of Science Degree with 4+ years of experience


Experience in military aircraft avionics systems or experience with military aircraft modification programs and integrationPreferred Skills and Education

  • Current Secret or Top Secret security clearance is desirable
  • Knowledge or experience with US Air Force ICBM weapon systems is desirable
  • Working knowledge of voice/data communications media (e.g., fiber optics, radio frequency (RF)), protocols, and capabilities is a plus. An understanding of effective cybersecurity integration with engineering products and processes is desirable.
  • Prior experience with aircraft testing is desirable.
  • Self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communications skills in addition to sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with customer and company personnel.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel is highly desirable.
