Join the BAE SYSTEMS F-35 Software Operations team and lead the effort in developing and delivering outstanding fleet-maintenance software solutions and data analytics capabilities to the F-35 program. This is an exciting and challenging time for the F-35 program as the fleet grows from 500 aircraft today to 2000+ aircraft over the next decade. You lead and manage a team of systems and software engineers in the US, and be a champion for collaboration with our BAE SYSTEMS Software Operations UK team.
Working closely with Lockheed Martin, develop and deliver highly optimized software solutions and data analytics capabilities within a governed quality management system. You are responsible for people managing the team as well as the successful delivery of products into the customer’s fleet maintenance system. You work within an Agile development and deployment framework, requiring significant communication and organizational skills. The applicant must be highly self-sufficient and independent, with only minimal direction from the F-35 Data Analytics and Product Services/Force Life Management (DAPS/FLM) Engineering Management Team.
The Senior Systems Engineer Team Lead responsibilities include:
Generation of unique solutions and understanding complex system, software, data concepts, and techniques in order to advance processes and methods
Management of staff, delivery schedule, and budget to meet team milestones
Lead the technical communication between the Prime Contractor (Lockheed Martin) and the Systems team
Develop solutions to complex problems requiring ingenuity and innovation
Ensure solutions are consistent with organizational objectives
Comprehensive Understanding of Program Management Plans: Systems Engineering; Configuration; Software Development; Software Test; Product Safety; and Integrated Program
Develop and mentor subordinate team members: lead the design; critical understanding of capability and function; algorithm development; process improvement
Formalize requirements by Sprint; Validation and Verification of decomposed customer requirements
Extensive understanding of and compliance with AS9100D
Ownership and Maturation of a Quality Management System
Internal and External audit completion
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS or Master’s Degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- Extensive Expertise of Systems Engineering Principles; Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Agile Methodologies
- Excellent cognitive, communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills
- Experience with MS Office applications
- At least 3 years’ experience managing technical teams (projects and people)
- Self-discipline to plan and prioritize their own work with successful results
- Requirements Decomposition and Management
- Experience leading teams within Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition programs

- Graduate Degree in Engineering or Related Field
- At least 10 years’ Systems Engineering Experience
- Atlassian Tools, Fisheye, Crucible, Bamboo
- Working Experience as a DoD Contractor/Subcontractor
- Working understanding of Python / Java
- Working understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Experience with enterprise quality management systems
- Working knowledge of Prognostics and Diagnostics
- Aircraft maintenance practices and procedures
- Secret clearance
