Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Principal Software Developer to support the Air and Space Force Solution, Strategic Systems, Information Services team. The selected applicant will join the IS team as we seek to deliver world-class capabilities for our client and its associated contractors, driving productivity and innovate new solutions. This team supports a variety of contracts/programs. This position will include the following duties and responsibilities:
Software development directly related to propriety, in-house developed, Java application.
Work and coordinate with remote teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Testing code development against requirements.
Business process and system requirements analysis.
Provide technical assistance, training, and system documentation to promote efficient operation of applications.
The applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. An active Secret clearance is preferred but not required.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Telecommunications, or other related scientific or technical discipline with 12 years of development experience, or a Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Telecommunications, or other related scientific or technical discipline with 10 years of development experience.
Experience in Agile development methods, including Scrum, automated testing and continuous integration.
Experience developing using Java programming language running in a distributed fashion across a variety of computing platforms running Linux, UNIX, or Windows operating systems.
Experience with Tomcat Web Server and Oracle databases
Familiarity with the following software tools: Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket),
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Experience with troubleshooting and proactively identifying issues and driving them to resolution.
Ability to debug issues being reported by remote testing teams.
Fast learner with ability to quickly comprehend technology and understand unique system requirements.
If not already DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant, must receive CompTIA Security+ or other DoD IAT Level II certification within 6 months of employment.
The applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. An active Secret clearance is preferred but not required.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Web Server administration/optimization experience on Windows environments
Experience with Postgres database
Developing and enhancing internal processes and procedures in terms of governance (documentation) and the complete Software Development Lifecycle
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with C++ programming language
