Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a skilled Painter III to join our team at our Louisville, KY location. As a Painter III, you will be responsible for operating equipment in an industrial paint setting, maintaining high standards of housekeeping and safety, and ensuring quality operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of equipment in an industrial paint setting.
- Work under minimal supervision from a Team Leader or Supervisor, with the ability to execute assigned responsibilities independently.
- Maintain and improve housekeeping standards in your work area, adhering to established safety rules and practices.
- Validate interim operations for quality purposes, with final operations validated by a paint inspector.
- Utilize a shop floor computerized time and attendance system to clock in and out, close shop order sequences, and perform other assigned tasks.
Physical Requirements
- Stand for long periods, stoop, bend, reach, and climb.
- Frequently handle objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 35 pounds.
- Use cranes, hand trucks, and other lifting and moving equipment for heavier loads.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches.
- Must possess the knowledge and ability to interpret various specifications and standards to determine how the material being processed can be affected.
- Must possess the ability to use, and set up tools and equipment such as pressure pots, spray guns, paint shakers, hand tools, etc.
- Ability to expedite material needs to support production in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to read a wet film thickness gauge.
- Experience working from heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and lifts.
- Must understand shop floor time and attendance system and independently execute assigned responsibilities such as; clocking in and out, logging on to jobs or closing shop order sequences when completed.
- Must have the ability, confidence and self-motivation to apply talents independently and with good judgment.
- Ablity to assist others in obtaining solutions to quality and production issues.
- Must be able to work well independently or as part of a team.
- Must be US citizen and ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Possess SSPC Marine Plural Component Program MPCAC (C14).
- 6S Training or Lean experience.
- Knowledge of and experience using PPE, blasting equipment, blast pots and blast cabinets, related tooling, etc.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Pay Information
This position is covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which will determine your wages.
