Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer/Architect to join our team in Bethesda, MD. The candidate that fits this position has experience as a NOC (Network Operations Center) Engineer and is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, availability, and security of an organization's IT infrastructure, which includes networks, servers, and applications. This role involves 24/7 monitoring, real-time incident response, troubleshooting, and escalating complex issues to senior engineering teams. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong technical skills, capable of working effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment. develops the core technical platform, capabilities, and services that support business processes and data including: Mapping the relationships between IT platform/infrastructure components (i.e., Technology End Users, IT Systems Software & Hardware, and Info-Communications Transmission Networks). Identifying the key technology interactions and dependencies across systems/platforms impacting the organization's ability to achieve integration, compatibility, and performance targets. Evaluating total cost of ownership and return on investment of various IT platform/infrastructure alternatives. Additionally, responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the complex and large-scale IT infrastructure that supports an entire organization. Create and deploy large-scale IT infrastructure solutions for the enterprise, including server environments, storage, and networking technologies. Work closely with business leaders and other IT teams to align the enterprise architecture with the organization's strategic goals and future growth.
This person shall be located within 50 miles of Bethesda, MD.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in NOC operations, network monitoring, and support within large enterprise or government environments
- Hands-on expertise with network monitoring and security tools, including experience responding to threats, outages, and performance issues in 24/7 settings
- Active DoD Secret Clearance (must be current and transferable)
- Strong knowledge of federal IT standards (e.g., NIST 800-53, FISMA) and ITIL practices for service operations and incident management
- Proficiency in networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and troubleshooting methodologies for hybrid on-premises/cloud environments
- Excellent communication skills for shift handovers, stakeholder notifications, and technical reporting under pressure
- U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contract obligations

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)
- Experience supporting DoD or large federal enterprises, including integration with SIEM systems (e.g., Splunk, ELK Stack) for threat hunting
- ITIL 4 Foundation certification, with emphasis on service operation and continual improvement
- Background in automation scripting (e.g., Python, Bash) for alert triage and reporting
- Master's degree in a relevant field or additional certifications (e.g., CISSP for advanced security monitoring)
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $115779 - $196825
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
