In this role, you will:
• Fabricate, assemble, integrate, and install infrastructure of all telecom networks, such as Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), and Cable TV (CATV).
• Carry out installation of cable supports, pulling network cable pathways, labeling, testing and troubleshooting cable installations.
• Maintain and update all documents related to new cabling infrastructure.
• Work with Quality Control, Engineering, Project Managers, and other functional groups to provide feedback and resolve issues.
• Read and interpret technical drawings for fabrication and installation.
• Be able to lift and carry 10 lbs. often. At times, may have to lift heavier equipment, 50+ lbs.
• Be able to work in small spaces and at varying heights and be required to climb ladders.
• Finally, technicians should be able to work with a team or independently and have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working hours will be approximately 11:30AM - 8:00 PM for the first 30-45 days and will transition to 1st shift after that. The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $20.80/hr.
This position is located in El Paso, Texas. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to El Paso, Texas or surrounding areas.Required Education, Experience, & Skills • High school diploma and 4 years of related experience OR Associate degree in Engineering or other technical discipline and 2 years of related experience
• Ability to obtain/maintain the required security clearance
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and instructions
• Mechanical aptitude and experience with a range of hand and power tools
• Ability to frequently work in a sitting, standing, or walking position
• Ability to frequently lift and carry 10 pounds and occasionally lift and carry 50+ pounds
• Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and work with hazardous material
• Basic operational skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook and Excel
EMPLOYEE WILL BE REQUIRED TO HAVE A PERSONAL SET OF BASIC HAND TOOLS. LIST OF REQUIRED TOOLS WILL BE PROVIDED.Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills • Experience bending and running conduit
• Experience with associated network test and measure equipment
• BICSI certified INST1 (installer), INSTC (installer 2, copper) or TECH (technician)
• Ability to assemble server racks, cable management ladders and CAT-6 patch panels
• Experience in fiber, including ST, SC and LC connectors, anaerobic terminations, and splicing
