Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a Network Engineer to perform communications security (COMSEC) manager/COMSEC responsible officer (CRO) duties in support the U.S. Space Force multi-functional teams under the Space Systems Command, Innovation and Prototyping Directorate. CRO duties are not full-time and the ideal candidate will also be skilled in Network Engineering. The position is located in Albuquerque, NM and supports the Engineering, Development, Integration and Sustainment (EDIS) contract.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage COMSEC accounts and perform all associated activities to develop and maintain sponsor key management accounts, policies and procedures
  • Maintain inventory of customer COMSEC accountable equipment and provide recommendations for procurement of COMSEC accountable products
  • Install software and hardware upgrades as required for all COMSEC related equipment
  • Apply technical standards, theories and processes to support daily ground support network operations
  • Brief/de-brief users in and out of the COMSEC program
  • Track all COMSEC inventory under the Key Management Infrastructure (KMI)
  • Receiving, generating, and distributing electronic keying materials
  • Stocking, storing, and issuing keying materials to COMSEC subaccounts and other COMSEC accounts
  • Maintaining records and files, reporting security incidents, and providing periodic status reports regarding COMSEC material
  • Travel periodically (under 10%) to attend specialized COMSEC training and conferences, and perform equipment setup, re-key, etc
  • Function as System Administrator for the KMI Management Client (MGC); troubleshoot, install, implement and administer network systems
  • Work with a team of fellow network engineers, systems administrators, and systems engineers who utilize lifecycle management frameworks to complete new IT projects and maintain existing infrastructure.
  • Deploy, monitor, and support network infrastructure (IP based telephones, Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs) and virtual server environments (servers, storage area networks, and VMware)
  • Coordinate frequently with security, configuration management, and logistics for government furnished property management to procure, install, maintain, and properly dispose of network hardware equipment
  • Work with configuration management team to develop, update and maintain hardware baselines and conduct physical audits of network gear
  • Provide the customer technical guidance in the design and implementation of network solutions using advanced understanding of network theory and maintaining specific enterprise network architecture
  • Update and maintain Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and develop/implement new SOPs as needed
Salary Range: $94,100-$159,900
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science and technology-related discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, or Computer Engineering plus five years of related experience in leadership role with related technical expertise. Additional years of experience may be used in lieu of degree completion
  • Active Top Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain and maintain SCI
  • Demonstrated success as a COMSEC responsible officer/manager
  • Knowledge of the legacy Electronic Key Management System/Local Management Device/Key
  • Recent hands-on experience with manual and electronic keying, configuration, upgrade, and installation of a variety of cryptographic equipment/systems
  • Experience providing COMSEC customer support via walk-in, email, telephone, REMEDY, or Automated Messaging Handling System (AMHS)
  • Must possess DoD 8570 baseline certification (CompTIA Sec+, etc)
  • Must be familiar with NSA/CSS Policy Manual 3-16, Control of Communications Security (COMSEC) Manual
  • Maintaining records and files, reporting security incidents, and providing periodic status reports regarding COMSEC material
  • Seasoned communicator with demonstrated success in leadership and followership in working with contract representatives and government sponsors

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Familiar with and able to read network topology and engineering drawings; drafting experience preferred
  • Experience using SharePoint and CAMEO Systems Modeler
  • Self-starter and able to work with minimal direction and oversight
  • Good understanding of disciplined process; information and data management, configuration control
  • Ability to provide high-level summary of results and draw conclusions based on interpretation of data
