Job Description

The U.S. Government Department of Defense (DoD) Gateway at Wahiawa, Hawaii utilizes the STEP System and DoD Teleport capability enhancements to provide additional SATCOM systems coverage and robust GIG/DIS services. Accesses to DISN services are via multi-media Radio Frequency (RF) connections. This multi-media RF includes existing SATCOM systems (i.e., Super High Frequency (SHF) (DSCS X-Band), UHF, and EHF), future Ka, as well as commercial SHF Wideband systems in the C and Ku bands. The Gateway consists of the Service Delivery Node (SDN) providing connections to the Defense Switched Network (DSN), DISN Video Services (DVS), Defense Red Switched Network (DRSN), and the Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System (JWICS). Unclassified but Sensitive Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) and Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) services are provided via the ITSDN.

In addition to providing tactical and strategic forces with a point of entrance into the DoDIN and legacy tactical C4I services with reliable high-throughput telecommunications, the site supports all frequency spectrums to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Western Hemisphere, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Chief of Naval Operations, U.S. Pacific Command, Commander U.S, Pacific Fleet, Commander Seventh Fleet, Commander Marine Forces Pacific, Commander Pacific Air Forces, Special Operations Command, National Security Agency, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and Australian Defense Forces. DoD Gateway Wahiawa provides direct support Joint Communication Control Centers (JCCC) of deployed Joint Task forces (JTF) or Combined/Coalition task forces (CTF) providing satellite integration capabilities to connect tactical terminals intra/inter theater to other deployed terminals, for a seamless interoperability with the DoDIN.

Additionally, the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) program provides the war-fighter with 3G cellular capabilities in the field. There are four MUOS sites {NCTAMS PAC Wahiawa, Hawaii; Geraldton, Australia; Niscemi, Italy; & Northwest, Virginia} which consist of Ground Transport, Ground Infrastructure, Network Management, and Satellite Control Systems.

The selected candidate will work directly on a U.S. Government Department of Defense (DoD) contract for the NCTAMS-PAC BAE Systems Inc. Program Manager. As the NCTAMS-PAC Systems Administrator, on a 8x5 flexible work schedule, the candidate must be available outside normal business hours in support of administration, security, and maintenance of the Information Systems (IS) located at MUOS (all 4 locations), SATCOM Wahiawa, Hawaii; SATCOM Finegayan, Guam; NRTF Lualualei, Hawaii; and TSCOMM, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii which consists of Naval and Teleport Information Systems, NETCENTRIC IP Suites using Windows, Linux, and Solaris Operating Systems. The candidate will be working in close coordination with the Project’s & MUOS' Information Assurance Officer.

Duties include (but not limited to):

· Report to the Program Manager of BAE Systems

· Perform user and systems administration and maintenance for all four sites + MUOS sites

· Review, test and apply IAVM patches to all Information Systems

· Review and update security, software, user and system profiles for all Information Systems. Perform Information System hardware and software maintenance

· Perform user and administrator account maintenance

· Initiate, update, track and complete work orders for Information System

· Coordinate with external entities for troubleshooting, analysis and repair of Information Systems and Provide customer support

· Ensure the servers/clients are backed up, and that the server/client data is secure from unauthorized access

· Perform basic programming and/or scripting

· Upgrade and/or configuring software, hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards, project or operational requirements as well as performing ongoing performance tuning and resource optimization

· Create, change, reset passwords for and deleting user accounts

· Configure or add new services

· Answering technical queries and dealing with often frustrated users

· Perform daily system monitoring, verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, review system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups

· Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, review logs, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities to ensure system security is up to date

· Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions

· Develop and/or maintain installation, operation and configuration procedures and documentation

· Maintain software libraries and hardware inventories

· Perform preventative maintenance on system hardware/software in accordance with the Information Assurance Integrated Maintenance Plan. Update Anti-virus definitions, backup system audit logs and crypto logs and clean/vacuum filters and exterior surfaces of systems.

· Perform physical security duties for both interior and exterior of the building.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills

The selected candidate will meet the following minimum requirements:




· Must be a U.S. Citizen




· Pre-employment drug screening




· Obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance




· Must be minimally IAT Level II certified with appropriate baseline security and operating system/computer environment (OS/CE) certification in accordance with DoD 8570.1-M and SECNAV-M 5239.2).




· Obtain EKMS 301 certification within 30 days of hire




· Obtain 3M 301 Maintenance PQS within 90 days of hire




· Have experience in repairing and recovering from hardware or software failures, coordinating and communicating with impacted constituencies and next higher level maintenance, installing , maintaining, rebuilding and/or upgrading servers and/or clients




· Understand the IAVM process and be able to apply IAVA/IAVB patches and reporting to the proper external entity of IAVA/IAVB completion




· Must be able to read and write English
