BAE Systems has an incredible story to tell, and the Marketing and Events Manager plays a key role in sharing that story in the United States and around the world. This role will be responsible for the planning and execution of BAE Systems Electronic Systems’ marketing communications activities to promote the products, capabilities and successes of a global organization of more than 15,000 employees with sales exceeding $5B. The role will oversee advertising, domestic exhibitions, and the strategic development of B2B and B2C marketing content. She or he will bring ideally to the role an understanding of the company’s competitive environment and have knowledge of key customers and industry issues.
Reporting to the Director of Business Communications, this position provides leadership, guidance, and coordination to ES’ Marketing and Events team.
This individual will:
Work closely with business leadership and business development across ES to develop measurable external and marketing communication strategies for key capabilities and technologies in support of the brand, strategy and growth objectives.
Develop and implement B2C marketing strategies to raise awareness of the BAE Systems brand in communities where we operate.
Be responsible for implementation of corporate identity and branding standards with exhibitions and marketing efforts across the Electronic Systems sector.
Lead the sector’s exhibitions program, working closely with business development, government relations, media and other functional teams.
Manage relationship with agencies to deliver exhibitions in line with corporate brand guidelines, on time and on budget.
Manage Electronic Systems budgets for exhibitions and promotions.
Manage, coordinate, and support the development of key messages, sales materials and advertising.
Monitor the competitive environment to proactively identify trends and potential issues for sector, campaign and communications leaders and teams. Recommend and support solutions.
Collaborate with internal graphic designers, web developers and video team for the creation of marketing materials.
Manage, mentor, develop and retain talent. Take action and make decisions regarding personnel matters. Ensure the team is aligned and collaborating to deliver maximum impact.
Provide strategic communications counsel and guidance to senior leadership.
Develop, maintain and report out on metrics to demonstrate investment impact.
Collaborate with other sectors and BAE Systems, Inc. headquarters teams on strategic international campaigns and joint exhibitions.
Demonstrate alignment with the sector’s cultural principles and model safe and ethical behavior.
Ensure compliance with appropriate Company policies and procedures.
Be an active member of the Communications leadership team.
Education and Experience: B.S. degree in Communications, or Marketing and at least 10 years of experience in a communications discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Skills and Education Demonstrated people management and leadership abilities.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
Established business acumen.
Demonstrated track record of leading enterprise-level communications programs.
In-depth knowledge of modern communications tactics, media, procedures and concepts.
Must be a team builder, networker and motivator.
Ability to initiate, prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Eligible for U.S. Secret security clearance.
