Here, we value our workforce, and their well-being. We prioritize safety, work life balance, and offer competitive benefits. Whether it's a flexible work schedule or career development opportunities, you'll find it with us. Make a difference doing work you can be proud of, challenged, and part of a team that shares a passion of helping to protect our nation.
As a Hot Work Coordinator, you will:
- Receive, review, and coordinate each hot work authorization form submitted by each Repair Activity (RA), no later than 1230, for next day’s work.
- Prioritize allocation of hot work authorization forms for each shift based on the Integrated Production Schedule.
- Complete a Hot Work Log for each approved hot work authorization form and sign after verifying with the PAI/Hot Work Supervisor that hot work is ready to commence and after hot work has ended.
- Conduct a hot work start / end verification; a face-to-face meeting between the HWC and Permit Authorization Individual (PAI)/Hot Work Supervisor. The face to face will take place where the hot work log is located, typically onboard a navy vessel.
- Meet daily, when hot work is scheduled with each designated representative from each RA, the Commanding Officer's designated representative, and the SUPERVISOR to eliminate each hot work conflict, and to advise the SUPERVISOR of each hot work problem that could impact the RA's or any ship's work operation.
- Participate in each Fire Safety Council (FSC) meeting when needed to support adjudicating each request for deviation.
- Submit each hot work authorization form to the Commanding Officer's designated representative no later than 1400 each day.
- Ensure each hot work authorization form revision submitted by the cognizant RA is processed prior to proceeding with the work necessitating the revision to the hot work authorization form.
- Responsible for tracking the amount of hot work authorization forms submitted to ensure total amount of permits does not exceed each parameter identified in procedures.
- Responsible for submitting a weekly hot work report in approved transferable media that will be reviewed during the weekly production meeting. The report must include:
- Daily recap of the number of hot work authorization forms submitted, number of hot work authorization forms executed, percent of hot work authorization forms executed compared to submitted, and reason (i.e. excess form submitted, lack of material/equipment or personnel, weather, reprioritization of personnel, change in gas‐free status) for each hot work authorization form not executed.
- Two‐week forecast of planned hot work to include the date, shift, work item number, and location of hot work.

- The HWC shall deconflict and issues/discrepancies with each hot work permit to the Hot Work Supervisor and Ships Management Team if required while on the deckplate or in the office.
- The HWC is required to discuss daily any issues/concerns regarding hot work to the Supervisor and Ships Force. For each hot work permit not approved under any circumstance may result in the delay of the projects schedule; thus impacts budget/revenue of the project
