Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a senior, experienced and innovative Chief Systems Architect to join our System Integration, Test and Readiness (SITR) team immediately. Currently in the pre-solicitation phase, an award is anticipated in the March 2022 timeframe.
The successful candidate will initially support the development of our proposal and, in execution, have the day-to-day responsibility for leading the Systems Architecture team and for execution of the GMD Systems Architecture vision and strategy, particularly with respect to a potential future underlay with AEGIS and/or THAAD.
The successful candidate must have significant and proven experience with major missile defense programs and MDA. He/she must have an in-depth understanding of the technologies and the architecture of, as well as the processes used in, the MDA’s Battle Management Command, Control and Communications (BMC3), Ground-Based Radars, Sea-Based Radars, Ground Support & Fire Control Systems and Interceptor components. The successful candidate must have the ability to act independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the implementation of the GMD SITR’s Systems Architecture approach, and the ability to think strategically and communicate effectively at the most senior levels of the Customer and Corporate Management to articulate the mission needs, requirements and architecture, and the value and benefits of BAE Systems solutions.
It is preferred that the successful candidate reside in the Huntsville, AL or Colorado Springs, CO areas. Relocation may be available.
The successful candidate must possess:
- Previous working experience with MDA in a systems architecture or a program management role
- Previous proposal development experience with in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Missile Defense System (MDS) as a system-of-systems (SoS) and the various C2, Sensor, and effector components
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of all areas of large scale, complex weapon management, operations and sustainment
- Working experience with the operating policies and procedures for all Systems Architecture aspects of the GMD SITR responsibilities
- In-depth understanding of MDA organization, programs, processes, priorities, and initiatives, and program management practices including budgets, schedules, and related performance standards
- Demonstrated success in being able to work across programs, organizations, and/or other stakeholders to achieve common goals
- Previous proposal development experience

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Masters of Science in Engineering or a related science discipline
- 15 years of progressive architecture, engineering or technology development leadership experience
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate strong initiative, and organize all tasking with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills (oral and written) as well as the ability to interact with team members, external SMEs and consultants, and cross-organizational stakeholders at various levels of customer and internal leadership and management
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Ph.D. in Engineering or a related science discipline
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
- Former operational experience with missile defense systems
- Active Top Secret security clearance.
