Job Description BAE Systems is seeking an exceptional individual to support the Air Force's next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) weapon system acquisition. Our customer is the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Program Office located at Hill Air Force Base, north of Salt Lake City, Utah. This will be a long-term project with the weapon system anticipated to remain operational until 2075.
We are seeking an experienced electrical engineer with a willingness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment. They must possess high energy and a strong motivation to make a difference. They must be comfortable working with changing priorities. The ability to switch tasks and multitask with minimal disruption is a must.
This position will directly support the GBSD Support Equipment Branch as they acquire the various weapon system equipment and various transportation and maintenance vehicles needed for the next generation ICBM. Duties will include providing expert advice and support to GBSD Division leaders on all aspects of peculiar and common support equipment and weapon system vehicles throughout the acquisition cycle. Specifically, this BAE Systems team member will serve as a team electrical engineer responsible for supporting the government customer in the creation, review, and assessment of documents, architecture, and Model Based System Engineering proposals in order to meet GBSD acquisition requirements and timelines. The understanding of, and potential application of, evolving technologies supporting the training environment is a key aspect of the position.
The position is being filled as a part of the Integration Support Contract (ISC) under which BAE Systems augments organic government resources by providing breadth and depth of capabilities for system engineering and integration, risk management, technical assessment, acquisition program management, strategy development, organization and change management, interface with operations and logistics, business analysis, and mission effectiveness.
This individual will work on the support equipment team and with other ICBM subject matter experts (SMEs) to assess the impacts of vulnerabilities, develop and implement mitigation plans, and document all findings. Our team includes existing staff with extensive expertise in the current Minuteman III weapon system and actively participates in ongoing studies and assessments for this next generation system.
This position is only located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, due to special-access classified working environment.Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- BS/MS in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics
- Seven years' directly-related experience (5 years with MS degree)
- At least three years' progressive responsibility in providing technical leadership, and ability to understand requirements and their traceability
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Active U.S. Government Secret clearance with a background investigation completed no greater than 6 years prior to hiring.
- Advanced degree in Engineering.
- Strong interpersonal skills—with ability to interface with internal and external stakeholders across all organizational levels.
- Experience with engineering software tools (ex: Cameo, MATLAB and DOORS).
- Prior experience working with classified government IT systems.
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Extensive knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
