BAE Systems is hiring a Director II – Finance to support our Space and Mission Systems (SMS) sector. This role is a key role within the SMS Finance Leadership Team (FLT), reporting directly to the SMS Sector CFO. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for managing the Project Controls policy, consistency of practice, training, Project Controls support for Capital and Internal Product Line Component Production (Execution Areas), Estimating process and Business System Compliance, Program Scheduling, and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) / Estimating Systems Compliance functions.
The Finance Strategic Capabilities Unit delivers the expertise and business acumen to increase value across the enterprise by providing actionable information with recommendations and opportunities to drive sustainable business growth.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead team of approximately 64 finance staff, ensuring adequate development, training, and capabilities to support and deliver on SMS objectives.
- Develop and implement Project Controls, Estimating, and Scheduling training, processes, policies, templates, and guidance to ensure consistency in practice across SBUs and professional standards.
- Work closely with SBU Finance leads on staffing requirements and technical needs.
- Manage Estimate at Complete (EAC) financial controls and CFO certification process.
- Support Lifecycle Management (LCM) and Independent Cost Estimate (ICE) activities.
- Coordinate closely with Finance Operations team to ensure tools and reporting are aligned with Project Controls and Scheduling needs.
- Ensure SMS compliance with DFARS 252.234-7002 Earned Value Management System and 252.215-7002 Cost Estimating System requirements.
- Coordinate support for indirect project controls efforts such as Capital and Internal Product Line Component Production (Execution Areas).
- Support external audits (DCAA, DCMA Deloitte etc.).
- Drive business acumen through training and engagement with non-financial leaders within SMS.
- Stay current on industry trends and best practices through engagement with other BAE Systems sectors and involvement in external professional associations / seminars.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working four days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

- Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Short-Term Incentive: Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 12 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- Experience in Aerospace and Defense (A&D) or similar government contracting environment.
- Experience in Program Management, and/or Project Controls, and/or Project Scheduling required.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Solid people and team-building skills.
- Demonstrated financial and business management skills.
A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Knowledge of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) preferred.
- PMP, PMI-SP, CCEA, EVP or other equivalent certificate/license preferred.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $154815 - $263185
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
