Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a Field Services Technician - Radars to support operation in Fort Walton Beach, FL as well as other CONUS and OCONUS locations.
You will be responsible for:
- Level 2 maintainer troubleshooting and repair skills to keep mission critical radar systems operational.
- Performing advanced fault isolation to component level using general and specialized test equipment, available technical documentation, and critical thinking to return non-mission capable systems to fully operational status with minimum down time.
- Interfacing with US Government and Civilian customers, radar operator/maintainers, in-house technical staff, and other contractor technicians to understand and resolve issues in the field and through telecommunications or electronic methods (email, direct video feed, virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR)).
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Travels to radar sites around the world to perform repairs, operational testing, periodic and corrective maintenance, and level 2 maintainer/depot sustainment activities.
- Troubleshoots radar systems using schematics, electronic wiring diagrams, parts list, wire lists, and technical manuals.
- Performs repairs and tests systems to verify effectiveness of repairs/corrective actions and operation within specified tolerances.
- Performs preventative maintenance actions.
- Work with internal and external customers to resolve technical issues.
- Prepares end of day status, technical, and engineering field support reports for internal leadership and test range customers.
- Provides technical guidance to junior personnel.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- High School Diploma, 2 years technical college or military technical training in level 2 maintainer/depot sustainment or related field with demonstrated on-the-job experience.
- Requires a minimum of 6 years of job-related experience.
- Active Secret clearance required.
- Ability to travel worldwide, sometimes on short notice, is required. General requirement is to arrive in requested locale, 24 hours for domestic, 48 hours for international following receipt of request. Extended stays on site may be required.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex systems using schematics, wire diagrams and technical manuals.
- Experience with common test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, peak and average RF power meters, spectrum analyzers, etc.
- Ability to perform repairs in the field including replacing circuit cards, subassemblies, components and faulty wiring and connectors.
- Troubleshooting to component level and perform field repairs to restore operation of circuit card or next higher assemblies.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting high voltage systems.
- Proven track record of working with customers to resolve technical issues.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work alone and in a team setting.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing radar systems.
- In depth understanding of radar system architecture
- Ability to improvise with materials on hand or available locally to fabricate text fixtures to fault isolate, perform alignments or make repairs.
- Experience repairing Magnetron pulse modulators and Magnetron based transmitters.
- Experience with high power transmitters with Final Power Amplifiers such as Klystron or Cross Field Amplifiers is a plus.
- Possess mechanical aptitude and skilled with general power and hand tools.
- Background in high power vacuum tube modulators with pulse modulator and series regulator capabilities.
- Previous experience with high power waveguide transmission lines and dry compressed air, nitrogen or SF-6 pressurization systems.
- Bench level repair of Printed Circuit Board or Circuit Card Assemblies (PCBA or CCA) including advanced desolder/removal and installation/solder of discrete and integrated circuit (IC) components.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $67950 - $108720
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
