BAE Systems is seeking a Software Engineer with strong software and hardware skills, at least 4-6 years of software design, code, test and hardware integration experience to join our Test and Support Solutions team. The candidate must also have working knowledge and experience performing Software Configuration Management tasks including identification, change management, status accounting, audit and verification. This is a hands-on technical role on a multi-disciplinary team. The candidate will help mentor a small team of developers in creating, deploying, and sustaining a test/support platform, in addition to hands on design/coding and software/hardware integration and troubleshooting.
The candidate will design, develop, test and document Windows-based applications for various aircraft test and support equipment items. The candidate will contribute to the development of instrument drivers, analysis algorithms, Graphical User Interfaces, and self-test software. The candidate will also interface with Systems and Hardware Engineering and must have a background working with basic electrical hardware design. The candidate will be involved in all phases of software development from requirements definition, design, coding, integration, and test. The software is developed in C/C++ and Java using commercial tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Matlab, Java Development Kit (JDK), National Instrument’s Lab Windows/CVI, LabView and/or Test Stand.
In addition to software development responsibilities, the candidate will support software configuration management activities including establishing and managing tool specific software libraries. Perform and document software builds to ensure reproducible software configuration baselines. Execute release and change control functions using the designated SCM tools in order to insure software product integrity and meet program schedules. Generate and maintain necessary program software development, release, and change records, including "as built" and status accounting records and deliverable release media. Perform SCM Configuration Control Board activities, which include, but not limited to, establishing the agenda, recording approvals/non-approvals, and publishing and maintaining action items lists.
The ability to travel occasionally domestically and/or internationally is required to perform lab and aircraft testing.

Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely.Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in a computer related field
- 4-6 years of software development experience with Automatic Test Equipment, electronics engineering support, including design testing and verification experience.
- 2-3 years of Software Configuration Management experience,
- Implement new programs, establishing SCM processes and procedures.
- Strong software architecture, design, and development experience using C/C++ or Java
- Test Equipment Development Tools (i.e., LabView, LabWindows, TestStand)
- Use of common lab equipment/good background in performing and documenting lab work
- Experience reading wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions to assist in software/hardware debug, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- PTC Integrity Lifecycle Manager experience
- Embedded Windows Operating System and Device Drive development
- Graphical User Interface design, including Windows Forms and Java Development Kit programming skills
