Job Description BAE Systems Jacksonville Ship Repair Division is seeking a motivated self-driven individual to work in the Estimating Department. As an Estimator you will:
Work with a team to develop a detailed labor budget and overall plan.
Source material and subcontractors for overhaul, drydocking, and modernization of Navy combatants and various commercial vessels, including yachts.
Read and understand 4E specifications, drawings, technical reports, regulatory body requirements, and shipyard capabilities.
Review customer specifications, conduct onboard inspections, and initiate clarification requests when required. Apply parametric standards and historical data to determine the estimated amount of effort and costs required for repair work.
Interact closely with team members, shipyard departments and customers.
Travel to survey vessels composing of national and international travel.
Have an opportunity to grow and develop in the world of marine engineering and repair.Required Education, Experience, & Skills Minimum 4 years of Shipyard experience and/or marine industry related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to work independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to others.
- Determine appropriate actions, methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for expediting results by exercising independent judgment within defined practices and policies.
- Ability to effectively communicate professionally, provide training wherever and whenever required, and respond to questions from managers, employees, clients, customers-both internal and external, and the general public.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
- Works with minimal direction, independently determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may provide guidance to others.
- Follows an organized method in approach to work but is cognizant of the time needed to provide a service or product.
- Ability to speak effectively before others inside the organization.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering documents, technical procedures, government regulations, common manuals and journals.
- Ability to be able to read and interpret drawings and blueprints. Knowledge of AutoCAD a plus.
- Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.
Typical Education & Relevant Experience
6+ Years with HS
4+ Years with AA
2+ Years with BSPreferred Education, Experience, & Skills Preferred experience from within the craft or trades of industry or shipyards.
Ability to use AutoCAD a plus.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $73778 - $125422
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
