Job Description DoD SkillBridge Program – Material Handler
BAE Systems is offering a unique DoD SkillBridge opportunity for transitioning military members seeking to gain valuable experience in Integrated Logistics and Warehouse Operations in Fort Walton Beach, FL. As a Material Handler, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement and storage of materials within our warehouse.
Essential Functions/Duties:
o Perform a variety of warehousing duties, including verifying materials against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and damages, and routing materials to prescribed storage locations
o Store, stack, or palletize materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods
o Maintain inventory of stored materials, examine stored materials, and report deterioration and damage
o Perform receiving and issue transactions electronically while maintaining a high accuracy rate
o Remove material from storage and prepare it for shipment in accordance with packing/shipping requirements
o Conduct physical inventory counts and audits to ensure accurate quantities and locations
o Utilize computer systems, including in-house programs and customer portals
o Operate hand or power trucks, such as pallet jacks, tow motors, and forklifts, as needed
Training Environment
o Exert frequent physical energy, lifting and carrying heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.)
o Operate material handling equipment in a fast-paced warehouse environment
o Train outdoors in various weather conditions
o Collaborate with internal and external customers to provide excellent customer service
Required Education, Experience, & Skills o High school diploma or equivalent
o Minimum 4 years of inventory/warehouse experience
o Minimum 4 years of shipping/receiving experience
o Ability to accurately process export documentation and maintain electronic and paper files
o Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
o Excellent communication and customer service skills
Eligibility Requirements for SkillBridge Fellowship
o Must be eligible to participate in Fellowship per DoD Instruction 1322.29
o Must be projected to receive an honorable discharge from the military
o Must receive approval from Unit Commander or chain of command
o Must be located within a commutable distance or willing/approved to relocate to Fort Walton Beach, FL
Program Details
o The program is designed for transitioning military members within their last 180 days of service. Through this program, the service member continues to receive all pay & benefits from the Department of Defense while participating in a non-paid internship with BAE Systems.
o Participants will gain valuable work experience and on-the-job training in Integrated Logistics and Warehouse Operations
o The program is a great opportunity to translate your military skills into a civilian career

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $0 - $0
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
