Job Description BAE Systems, a top-ten prime contractor to the U.S. Department of Defense, enables the U.S. government to transform data into intelligence and provides engineering, integration and sustainment support for critical military platforms and systems. Intelligence & Security provides services and products to the Department of Defense, the government, federal law enforcement officials, and troops deployed around the world.
The cloud engineer should have most of the skills listed below.

- Bachelors’ degree (or equivalent experience) See equivalent experience in notes section
- Demonstrated 10 years of experience in all the following:
- Virtual/clustered environments with 5 years of hands-on experience, system engineering, and understanding of cloud services (i.e., AWS)
- Extensive experience and understanding of performance analysis and optimization of distributed (cloud) systems
- Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Scientific Linux) and MS Windows Server (Windows Server 2012 R2 and 2016) environments and be able to build configure and maintain via Command line Interface (CLI)
- Ability to troubleshoot problems of core communication protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, SSL, HTTP/S and building application-specific protocols on top of them
- Understanding of information security practices (cryptography, privilege separation, RBAC, INFOSEC, Auditing, Patching, Security Benchmark, Compliance, OS hardening)
- Understanding of proactive monitoring concepts, including experience configuring and deploying Network and systems monitoring, SNMP, e.g., Nagios, Splunk, SolarWinds, etc.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in:
- Understanding of underlaying storage for Linux (LVM) and storage network protocols such as NFS and CIFS
- Understanding of J2EE concepts including Java Virtual Machine (JVM) perform tuning
- Mitigating vulnerabilities and address findings on reports (reports produced by Rapid 7)
- Understanding of Internet Web related protocols and technologies: Apache, Tomcat, Web Services, DNS, registrars, SSL, web hosting providers
Required Education, Experience, & Skills It is desired that the cloud engineer has demonstrated on-the-job experience in the following areas:
- Developing in multiple large scale, distributed systems and data center environments
- Understanding of configuration management systems (e.g., Git, Ansible) and concepts behind mass configuration
- Collaborate with other IT disciplines (Storage, Platform, Middleware and Application) to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems
- Understanding of server hardware from major vendors like HP, including and related technologies including: CPU performance, RAID, iLO, bare-metal restores, backup methodologies

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $140690 - $239140
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
