Job Description Do you enjoy leading capital improvement projects? BAE Systems is a worldwide defense contractor that develops tools to protect those who protect us. BAE Systems has an established Louisville, Kentucky presence where we specialize in the fabrication and assembly of major shipboard components. BAE Systems is in a sustained growth mode to support long-term fleet modernization and we are searching for Capital Program Manager who will be actively engaged in the planning and execution of multimillion dollar annual capital budgets.
As a Capital Program Manager, your primary function will be to own, lead and teach the site’s capital equipment process and become the principle interface and spokesperson for capital related matters. You will create and maintain a dynamic five-year site capital plan, lead its annual execution, implement specific capital projects for the site and oversee the implementation of others.
Work with Production, Finance, Engineering, Facilities, Program Management, Safety, Health, Environmental and other support groups to ensure all capital requests are properly scoped, justified, have adequate risk assessments and implementation plans. Regularly report on the progress of all site capital projects and represent the site at a sector level.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering or business
- Minimum of 5 – 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment performing capital or project-related work with a demonstrated record of achievement
- Experience in an industry or company with a strong commitment to Lean Methods or Continuous Improvement
- Demonstrated ability to organize and lead multi-functional, ad hoc groups
- Ability to create clear, concise business proposals and present them to Senior Leadership
- Significant project management experience of a similar scope and nature
- Working understanding of manufacturing operations, facilities and constraints
- Working knowledge of MS Office and CAD; AutoCAD preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to seek out and exploit opportunities
- Strong negotiating skills
- Willingness and ability to work with, teach and lead others
- Must be a US citizen and be capable of obtaining a security clearance
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Master's degree in industrial engineering, management engineering, or business
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience in a company that has a lean mindset and continuous improvement culture
- Formal Six Sigma training or lean training
- Experience working on multimillion dollar projects
