Job Description What’s a career like at BAE Systems? Remarkable! The Assistant General Counsel for Supply Chain is responsible for handling and supporting the legal needs of the Supply Chain function and reports to the Vice President & Associate General Counsel, Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions and Commercial Transactions.
The purpose of this position is to provide expert advice to the company on enterprise-wide procurement and global supply chain contracting terms, risk, and compliance matters. The Assistant General Counsel for Supply Chain will advise the Chief Procurement Officer and Vice Presidents of Supply Chain in support of the function’s business objectives as well as advise on real estate and various commercial matters related to headquarters activities.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Engagement:
- Actively participating in functional working groups;
- Meeting regularly with functional leaders;
- Liaising with lawyers across the enterprise;
- Advising on collaboration and data sharing matters in conjunction with Security;
- Reviewing the annual report as it relates to Supply Chain.
- Contracting:
- Drafting and negotiating agreements for significant procurements;
- Responsible for the company’s standard supplier terms and conditions;
- Drafting and negotiating real estate agreements;
- Managing outside counsel as needed.
- Compliance:
- Being responsible for all aspects of compliance for the function;
- Monitoring of changes in relevant legislation;
- Actively participating in the supply chain compliance working group;
- Regularly briefing the supply chain and contracts functions on compliance matters;
- Responsible for raising awareness of compliance matters, including creating command; media to implement changes needed (training and communications material).
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- JD with at least 7 years’ experience in procurement or commercial transactions, particularly in matters involving government contracts and subcontracts;
- Be a member in good standing of a state bar;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Strong analytical, oral, and writing skills;
- Experience drafting and negotiating procurement agreements / subcontracts;
- Strong management and organizational skills;
- Ability to manage outside counsel;
- Strong presentation skills.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $164000 - $278800
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
