Job Description

BAE Systems, one of the world's largest defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 Company, is hiring an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) in Minneapolis, MN. The Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) will provide onsite support for all security actions in accordance with NISPOM, BAE Systems Policies and Procedures, as well as other Federal government regulations. The AFSO will assist the FSO with security briefings and debriefings, monitor classified controlled areas, monitor and track documents, and perform periodic self-inspections.

  • This role requires either an active Top Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.

  • This will be an onsite role where you will work at the Minneapolis, MN site
  • This role will work on a 9/80 schedule where you will have every other Friday off
  • This role will require <25% of travel
  • Travel to other BAE sites to perform Security Assisted Visits, Physical Security Assessments, and external training

  • Implements, manages, and ensures compliance with government and company security policies, procedures, and directives, to include BAE Systems Special Security Agreement (SSA) requirements
  • Assists in the development and implementation of compliance standards supporting federal, SSA, and BAE Systems requirements
  • Assists with processing new employee security clearances and public trust investigations to include tracking and providing administrative support through DISS
  • Assists with preparing and maintaining DD254s
  • Reviews and interprets contracts and proposals
  • Assists with the processing of incoming/outgoing visit requests
  • Receives and dispatches classified documents in accordance with NISPOM and BAE Systems standards
  • Serves as the alternate COMSEC Custodian
  • Provides daily input into SIMS, NISS, DISS, as well as other security applications in performance of assigned duties
  • Conducts annual self-inspections on local processes and practices to ensure SSA and NISPOM compliance
  • Assists with development and delivery of sector, site, and program-specific security education programs ensuring all facility personnel complete appropriate training
  • Conducts security awareness briefings and debriefings, including counterintelligence, pre- and post-travel, and suspicious contact reports to site personnel
  • Conducts investigations and completes Reports of Investigation (ROI) on all security matters; makes recommendations to local Human Resources and supervisory personnel on disciplinary actions; provides ROI to group leadership as required by BAE Systems policy
  • Implements all Corporate and Sector Security direction, policy, and procedures throughout the facility in support of SSA and physical security requirements
  • Ensures proper training and routine oversight of site reception duties, to include badge handling and processing, visitor control, and physical security management
  • Maintains proficiency in all NISPOM procedures as well as physical and FOCI security policies and practices
  • Implements best practices and enhancements, documents all above baseline security measures as appropriate
  • Assist with RMF audits

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of experience or equivalent experience
  • Must either have an active/inactive/interim Top Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one
  • Experience in Industrial or Physical Security
  • Experience in Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to support security risk assessments, investigations, and audits
  • Ability to utilize security equipment and software, such as, security access, cameras, and alarm systems
  • Ability to use discretionary judgment to resolve both routine and non-routine issues
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment with other business professionals
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines within a rapidly changing environment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Professional Certifications, such as, CPP, PSP, or CFE a plus
  • Experience in Industrial Security within DoD Contracting under the NISP a plus
  • Experience in JPAS, SIMS, NISS, or DISS a plus
  • Experience in Military Security regulations and operating procedures a plus
  • Experience in Business Continuity or Crisis Management a plus
