Job Description Improving the future and protecting lives is an ambitious mission, but it’s what we do at BAE Systems! We are hiring now for a Quality Engineer: Prototype & Development Compliance. This position is based out of our Minneapolis, Minnesota prototype shop facility.
In this role, the Quality Engineer works closely with Quality Management, Design Engineering, and Program Management in validating compliance to contractual Quality requirements. Engages and works collaboratively with a multitude of customers, both internal and external. Executes required duties per the current Quality Management System (ISO 9001-2015). The Quality Engineer uses their expertise to carry out specification and drawing reviews, test plans, and report writing.
Note: This is a Quality Assurance position working within a prototype shop environment with robust safety protocols and PPE requirements in place.Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred) and 4 years related work experience, or the overall equivalent
- Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and liaison.
- Must be capable of interfacing with management and the customer pertaining to product and process issues.
- Ability to work across multiple programs, system areas and product development phases simultaneously.
- As a Quality professional, must have experience leading complex issues and facilitating casual analysis tools to identify true root cause.
- Knowledgeable in Contractual Compliance and interpretation.
- Experience with Supplier Component Test verification (EMI, ESS, Unit Qualification, FAT).
- Experience with performance specs, drawing reviews, reading and understanding GD&T.
- Process auditing and familiarization with Overall QMS (Quality Management Systems).
- Knowledge and experience using measuring equipment.
- Demonstrate an understanding of product lifecycles, as well as, how technical systems work and interact.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment (prototype preferred), and specifically, with fully integrated vehicle systems.
- Experience working with and processing non-conformances.
- Ability to provide technical guidance to QA technicians.
- Review of work orders for overall quality and incorporation of appropriate inspection points.
- Proficient with MS Office and standard industry specific software applications.
- Must be comfortable working in, around and on vehicles.
- Must be able to uphold safety policies and procedures, including PPE requirements.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Defense contractor experience preferred.
- Experience with Defense contracts, knowledge of existing product history, and available to work with both with a mentor and independently.
- Experience with requirement management and traceability.
- Familiarization with FaroArm / CMM.
- Computer tools experience (Oracle, TIPQA, etc).
- Bachelors degree and 5 to 10 years in the Quality Assurance field preferred.
